Photographer Matt Porteous, has come to the forefront of photography in Jersey with his dynamic architectural shots, travel photos and expressive portraits.
With a passion for photography from a young age, he was awarded a Double Distinction in his City and Guilds Photography course in 2000 and whilst travelling took his camera. The rest has followed from there.

His work contains a mix of clean takes on local landscapes and buildings, action surf pictures from Jersey, Australia and Bali, successful commissions from those who love his relaxed reportage style and photographing people at their most natural, with family or friends, at home or outdoors.

Work you may have seen (or missed) include Matt working alongside renowned surfing photographer Leith Holtsman in Australia, a large scale exhibition of Jersey architecture at the Weighbridge during Architecture Week in September, Ex2 at the White House in St Ouen’s in September 2008 and EX1 on La Cala Roof Terrace in April 2008. Not to mention contests he has placed in. As for future work, Matt is planning a chilly winter trip on the Trans-Siberian Express, traveling 7600km to experience China first hand and of course continuing to build up his architecture portfolio, and location portraits.
Matt will be holiding his next exhibition EX3 from the 17th October at the Framing Workshop in St. Helier. It will include a fresh mix of photography, inspired by visions of the world surrounding us, displayed on various materials.

Familiar with the Daft Punk Pyramid? Well I’m sorry Thomas and Guy-Manuel, but Etienne De Crecy has almost eclipsed your travelling stage with this epic installation. Those crazy french euro-house DJs, what will they think of next?

According to our publisher, we’ve ‘had a thing’ about this video this month. I’m not sure what he means by that, but what I do know is that Gallery accounts for probably one fifth of the seven million, two hundred and eighteen thousand, two hundred and twenty nine times the video has been viewed at the time of writing. That’s 1,443,645.8 times.  Yep, we’re so crazy that we watched it point eight of a time just to make the figures add up. Anyway, POWERTHIRST. It’s an energy drink for men.. MENERGY!

This month’s ‘Youtube video of the month’ was a close call between a Gallery favourite comedy classic involving a cleverly dubbed television advert and that epic new television advert featuring Brains from Thunderbirds dancing to Snap’s ‘Rhythm is a dancer’.  No contest really.
